‘Chili Peppers’ to Join Bruno Mars for Half-time Show
It’s official frontman Anthony Kiedis and Flea (Michael Balzary – for those of you who still don’t know his real name) and the rest of the huge 90s rock act The Red Hot Chili Peppers, will also get on stage to perform the Super Bowl halftime show in just a few weeks on February 2, 2014 with “Just the Way You Are,” singer Bruno Mars. This should be interesting. I hope there are no socks involved!
According to CNN, the Hawaii native and Grammy winner invited them to get on the stage with him. So, maybe this means Bruno knows something we don’t know, because that duo seems like an odd mix, however it just might work to our surprise. Both artists are very different genres (both do have some ‘funk’ flare in them though) and both also know how to work a crowd and the stage.
They are known for their hit songs, “Give It Away,” “Suck My Kiss,” “Scar Tissue,” and we can’t forget, “Californication.” Maybe Mars and Kiedis can somehow blend their hit songs “Californiacation, when I was your man.” They might create a whole new genre out of something like that. Bruno is very slick on stage and sounds like he wanted to loop in the ‘Peppers’ for extra spice and fun. But will he add up to Michael Jackson’s performance at Super Bowl XXVII in 1993? That show is credited with launching the tradition of blockbuster halftime shows.
Last year Beyonce and her crew’s performance in 2013 was critically acclaimed by fans. Over the last eight years, the stage has been heavily graced with classic rock acts like The Who, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, U2, and 80s pop Icon Madonna.
